Origin Story

Our beloved Maine Coon cat Drexl prefers to lay right on top of the table. He eventually settles into a chair pretty well– once my husband or I have physically moved his 17 lb. ass a couple of times.

I believe the best conversations happen while seated at a table.

Growing up, my family somehow managed to sit down almost every night and have dinner together. Conversations ranged from silly to serious, and no topic was taboo. Some nights we sat down angry. Some nights we were almost too tired to eat. Yet what my memory serves up to me is a commitment to a daily gathering of hearts and minds, all devoted to connecting with one another in a meaningful way. 

Today, I am seeking that connection with strangers, near strangers, and loved ones (primarily the former two). I am highly reluctant to engage with people over social media because virtual reality is not real reality, and because I believe three dimensions are better than two.

This blog is where I would like to record my experiences as I invite the world to have a seat at the table.
